Spvg. Schonnebeck have found a striker in the Kreisliga A. The new man has played at Schetters Busch before. The new man has played at Schetters Busch before.
After playing in the Regional and Oberliga, Thomas Denker stepped down in 2020 and moved from Spvg. Schonnebeck to SuS Haarzopf in the Kreisliga.
Three years later, the 32-year-old is going the other way. He apparently wants to do it again and returns to Schonnebeck. For the Schwalben, the trained midfielder is planned to play in the centre of the attack.
“We are known for unusual transfers, so this can’t really surprise anyone,” explains sporting director Christian Leben. “Tommy has been working hard on himself in the last few weeks and will need a few more agonising weeks of preparation until we have him back to the fitness level of the Oberliga.”
Denker is the tall shot-stopper who uses his body well up front, locking down balls or extending them with his head that Spielvereinigung have been looking for, the statement added. “In addition, we have rarely had a player in the squad in recent years who has such an irrepressible will to score a goal at all costs and does not spare himself or his opponents in the process. “
I’m really looking forward to another chance here in Schonnebeck.
Thomas Denker
Denker returns to Schetters Busch after three successful years in Haarzopf. With the second team of SuS, the “Ü23”, he was promoted to the Kreisliga A and celebrated the championship there in the past season – the team, however, relinquished promotion.
Denker has also proven his qualities at a higher level. The native of Rot-Weiss Essen played for RWE in the regional league, but was mainly used in the second team at that time.
After his time with Rot-Weiss, Denker played for Germania Ratingen before playing 104 games for Schonnebeck between 2016 and 2020. The Essen native has already made 215 appearances (43 goals) in the Oberliga Niederrhein.
“I am really looking forward to this new opportunity here in Schonnebeck. Thanks to Haarzopf for the successful, intensive and wonderful time, we’ll see each other again,” says Denker about his transfer.
