The Oberliga Westfalen welcomes a completely new face, the basement was the scene of a fierce battle, but in the end DSC Wanne-Eickel managed to save itself.
The last matchday in the Westfalenliga II promised to be really exciting. Türkspor Dortmund, top of the league only since the last matchday, had to win at home against FC Iserlohn to clinch promotion as champions.
Second-placed FC Brünninghausen played host to bottom-placed Westfalia Herne and won their match 8:2. After just three minutes, FCB scored through Dietrich Liskunov to make it 1:0. After Florian Gondrum made it 2:0 (13th), it was clear that it was only a matter of how much they won. In the end it was 8:2 – it became quite embarrassing for Westfalia Herne at the end.
But Türkspor also did their homework. Not so clearly, but in the end sovereignly. Before the break, Mateus Ajala Cardoniz opened the box after 31 minutes. It was also Cardoniz who scored the 2:0 after the break, Santiliano Braja increased the score to 4:0 with a brace – Iserlohn’s resistance was broken. After 90 minutes and a 5:0 victory, the jubilation at Türkspor knew no bounds and the club was in the Oberliga Westfalen for the first time.
There was also excitement in the basement – where three teams have to be relegated to the Landesliga: So far, only Westfalia Herne had been relegated. With TuS Hordel, YEG Hassel and Wanne-Eickel, three teams wanted to avoid relegation at the last minute. Only one succeeded – and that was DSC Wanne-Eickel.
The won their home match against RSV Meinerzhagen with 5:0 and withstood the pressure. Luca Hauswerth, David Sdzuy, Christoph van der Heusen and Xhino Kadiu (2) scored for the traditional club from Herne, who will thus continue to play in the Westfalenliga II.
For the time being, this no longer applies to YEG Hassel and TuS Hordel. Despite Hordel’s great final spurt, the match at SV Sodingen was also won 2-1 after trailing. In the end, they were one point short.
Hassel lost 4-2 at home to third-placed SC Neheim on the last matchday and are relegated to second last place.
