At the start of the eighth matchday in the Oberliga Niederrhein, KFC Uerdingen suffered a setback. The Krefeld side lost 0:2 at VfB Hilden.
KFC Uerdingen seemed to be on its way out of the crisis – but now it has suffered another setback. Coach Marcus John’s team lost 2-0 (1-0) at VfB Hilden on Saturday afternoon and failed to climb up the table. (The course of the game to read)
The game took a few minutes to get going. Then Hilden had its first good chance – and shocked KFC. Tuncay Altuntas initially failed to beat Uerdingen goalkeeper Robin Udegbe, but Amin Bouzraa stayed wide awake and converted the rebound to make it 1:0 (17). The lead naturally played into the hosts’ hands. They remained the more active team.
Shortly before the break, however, KFC had a great chance: Dimitrios Touratzidis failed to beat VfB keeper Yannic Lenze. Thus, the Krefeld team remained behind at halftime. The visitors’ supporters were displeased to see their team off at half-time.
Bouzraa scores twice against KFC Uerdingen
It took a little while in the second half, but then KFC started to take command. All the more bitter what happened with the onset of the final quarter of an hour. In the middle of the pressure phase of the John team Bouzraa increased with his second goal to 2:0 (76.).
A bitter setback for the Uerdingen team, which had come back from a 1:3 deficit against SV Straelen last week (4:3). A good omen? Not on this Saturday afternoon. The score remained 0-2 from the visitors’ point of view, with a large proportion of KFC fans leaving the venue before the final whistle.
With still only nine points from seven games, KFC could slip into the lower half of the table on Sunday. Hilden can, at least temporarily, be happy about the jump into the top group.
On the next matchday, the 03ers host Hamborn 07 (Sunday, October 8, 3 p.m.). The day before, KFC welcomes Union Nettetal to the Grotenburg (October 7, 6 p.m.).
