After the resignation of coach Antonio Molina, SV Wacker Obercastrop have made their next signing.
Following the departure of Robin Franke (Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel) and the resignation of coach Antonio Molina, Westfalenliga club SV Wacker Obercastrop have announced their next new signing.
Defender Mick Nabrotzki will strengthen the current sixth-placed team in Westfalenliga 2. The 23-year-old moves to Obercastrop from regional league side TuS Sinsen. Born in Essen, he trained at Rot-Weiss Essen and played for VfL Bochum (U17) and Preußen Münster (U19) in the junior national leagues.
He then took his first steps in senior soccer in the 2019/2020 season, in which he only made two appearances for ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the Oberliga Niederrhein. After three and a half years in Sinsen, he is now set to strengthen SVWO’s defense.
“With Mick, we are gaining an absolute leader. An intelligent central defender with a lot of potential, and at the age of 23 he is a player for the future of our club. Mick is extremely strong in tackles and has a good opening. I’ve had him on my radar for some time, so we’re delighted that the transfer has come to fruition. Mick is a very good fit for us both athletically and personally,” explained Managing Director Sport Tim Eibold.
The new addition also comes as a reaction to negative news, which Eibold explained during Nabrotzki’s presentation: “Marius Nolte was originally supposed to return to team training for the second half of the season, but his injury is still causing him pain. Nolle’ will therefore continue to be out of action and as we don’t have another skilled right-back in the squad, we had to and wanted to be active on the transfer market again. With Mick, we were able to fill the gap perfectly.”
Nabrotzki himself is looking forward to his new role at the Großkreutz club: “The talks with those responsible were very positive. I had other inquiries, but after a short time it was clear to me that I absolutely wanted to join Wacker. The club is very informal and ambitious. I want to develop personally and athletically and can learn a lot from the experienced players. I also want to do my bit to ensure we have a successful second half of the season. “
