Two clubs from the Oberliga Westfalen have announced departures: Sportfreunde Lotte and Sportfreunde Siegen.
With Albin Thaqi and Leon Gino Schmidt, Sportfreunde Lotte have already announced two high-profile winter signings. Meanwhile, two departures have also been recorded at the table leaders of the Oberliga Westfalen.
After central defender Niklas Kiene, Philipp Schmidt will no longer be lining up at the Autobahnkreuz in the future. The 20-year-old left-back joined Lotte from TuS Bersenbrück in the Lower Saxony Oberliga in the summer.
However, he was unable to establish himself and only made one appearance – as a substitute in the 6-0 win over FC Brünninghausen on matchday nine. Now Schmidt is leaving again. It is not yet known where he will play in the future.
While the team of coach Fabian Lübbers should not be deterred from the path to promotion to the Regionalliga by this departure alone, there are also squad changes in the lower regions of the table: namely at Sportfreunde Siegen.

They are saying goodbye to Andreas Busik. “Andreas approached us with the wish to terminate the contractual relationship with immediate effect for professional and private reasons,” explains Frank Weber, deputy chairman of the club. ‘We regret this very much, of course, but we fully understand and have therefore complied with the request.’
The 23-year-old Busik played for Siegen in the youth team and has been part of the senior team for the past five years. He played 90 games for the club (scoring three goals). The midfielder appeared in eleven matches during the current season. “Thank you very much for your commitment in the red and white strip, and all the best for your professional future, Andreas! You are always welcome at our home ground, the Leimbachstadion,” said the club in saying goodbye to the player.
Busik is the second winter departure after Maximilian Kraft (TSV Weißtal). André Dej (TuS Bövinghausen) and Georgios Mavroudis (SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl) were added as reinforcements.
