In the Oberliga Westfalen, all eyes will be on the Bochum derby at the weekend. The VfL Bochum U21 team will face Wattenscheid for the first time since 2015.
The last derby between the VfL Bochum U21 team, which was temporarily deregistered from the league, and SG Wattenscheid 09 was in 2015.
On Saturday (November 23, 1 p.m.), the derby will finally take place again. And the teams can look forward to a large crowd in the Ruhr Stadium. Well over 4,000 tickets have already been sold, 600 of them in Wattenscheid, where advance ticket sales have been stopped. However, there will be a box office, which will open at 11:30 a.m.
For both sides, this is no ordinary game in the Westfalen Oberliga. The SGW’s active fan scene is calling for a joint departure to the neighboring district and has already sworn its team into action after the recent 1-1 draw against 1. FC Gievenbeck: “The most important game of the season is coming up. We have to give two hundred percent. In the stands and on the pitch. We want to win the derby!” said the 09 precentor.
The starting position is clear. VfL is the league leader and has not been beaten since the first match day. SGW have only won one of the last six matches and are therefore the underdogs in this game.
But a derby is rarely a normal game – not even for the fans. The Wattenscheiders are planning a joint trip to the Ruhr Stadium, including a fan march. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Wattenscheid station. The train to Bochum Central Station will leave at around 10:30 a.m. The fan march to the stadium, which will be accompanied by the police, will start there.
Forecasting will of course also be there live and will provide a live ticker for the game. If you want to watch the 90 minutes in the stream, you can do that too.
The WAZ will broadcast the game on Saturday in a livestream. Stefan Sander will comment on the game, with Nils Stakemeier responsible for the video production. You can access the livestream here. Our pre-match coverage begins at around 12:40 p.m.
