MSV Duisburg has a new managing director: Michael Preetz takes the helm at the Zebras.
Michael Preetz is the new sole managing director of MSV Duisburg. The club made the announcement on Friday evening.
“We are very pleased to have gained a strong personality for MSV in Michael Preetz, who is respected in soccer Germany. Michael Preetz is the ideal candidate to lead MSV on a successful path both internally and externally,” said Ingo Wald, Chairman of the Board of MSV.
The former MSV professional and managing director of Hertha BSC will not only be responsible for the sporting management of the club, but will also lead the entire organization. According to the press release, this includes “in particular the reorganization of the structures as successor to the departing dual management with Peter Mohnhaupt and Thomas Wulf”.
“His CV meets our requirements profile 100 percent,” said Ulf Schott, MSV’s sports director, emphasizing: “He is characterized by strong leadership qualities, strong motivational skills, his identification with MSV as a former player and, of course, his sporting expertise. That’s why we fought long and hard to win Michael Preetz for MSV. “
We are convinced that Michael Preetz will steer the fortunes of MSV Duisburg into a successful future with his expertise and experience

Preetz had already been a candidate for some time at the Duisburg club, which, following the departure of Ralf Heskamp as sporting director, was reorganized with Chris Schmoldt as head of squad planning and strategy and Branimir Bajic as head of the licensed team.
Preetz, who played 71 competitive matches for the Zebras between 1992 and 1994, said of his new role: “I’m delighted to be taking over as managing director of MSV Duisburg. Above all, I was convinced by the tenacity with which Ingo Wald and Ulf Schott fought for me and showed that they are determined to take a new path at MSV and change structures. I would like to play an active role in this. The club has an impressive history and I am determined to roll up my sleeves and do my bit to lead MSV on a successful path.”
With Preetz, MSV Duisburg hopes to return to calmer waters, both financially and in sporting terms. “We are convinced that Michael Preetz, with his expertise and experience, will steer the fortunes of MSV Duisburg towards a successful future. We thank him for his trust in our club and look forward to working with him,” said Ulf Schott and Ingo Wald.
