Fortuna Köln must plan for the coming season without a regular. The right-back is leaving the club.
While SC Fortuna Köln have not yet presented any additions for the coming season, there is now another departure at the club from the Regionalliga West.
Jean-Marie Nadjombe will not extend his contract in the Südstadt and will leave the club in the summer. The Cologne club recently made the announcement. It is a farewell after nine years. The 21-year-old right-back has been wearing the Fortuna jersey since 2014 and has played for numerous youth teams. He has been part of the professional squad since 2020.
“We made Jean-Marie an improved offer, but he decided to go another way,” sporting director Matthias Mink is quoted as saying about the personnel matter.
Nadjombe speaks of a “really nice time at Fortuna, which is unfortunately coming to an end. I’ve been playing for Fortuna since 2014, I’ve practically grown up here, which is why it’s all the more difficult for me to say goodbye. But I have decided to take a different path, for my personal development and to show myself from a different perspective. “
It is not yet known for which club the Cologne native will play in the future. He played a total of 66 games for Fortuna, 17 of them this season. After hardly making any appearances in the first half of the season, Nadjombe has been a fixture on the right side of defence since the turn of the year and has always been in the starting eleven, with one exception.
After striker Sascha Marquet (Alemannia Aachen), he is the second official departure from Markus von Ahlen’s team. In addition, goal scorer Lars Lokotsch is about to move to the 3rd League.
Youngster Finn Bauens, on the other hand, will continue to play for the regional league club in the 2023/24 season. He has extended his contract and will make six appearances this season.
