After the 0-1 loss in Hannover, there are racist comments about Ben Manga. The club stands behind its squad planner and criticizes the platform ‘X’ in no uncertain terms.
The crisis at Schalke 04 was not resolved by the personnel changes in Gelsenkirchen. In their first game in charge, Kees van Wonderen’s Hannover 96 team put in a weak performance and deservedly lost, leaving them with little encouragement for the upcoming tasks. This is also making the supporters nervous, who are not sparing with their criticism of the club.
However, some so-called “fans” are also using abusive language or even insulting the people in charge at Schalke in the worst possible way. The latest target of the attacks is squad planner Ben Manga, who had to read racist posts about himself on social media after the defeat in the capital of Lower Saxony.
Schalke reacted angrily to this on Monday – and also took action against the platform “X”. S04 posted an example of comments about Manga with screenshots: a user had repeatedly called on the club to expel the 50-year-old, using racist expressions several times.
According to “X”, a report from Schalke was checked, but the platform did not find any violations in the offensive words. The second division club finds this incomprehensible. Accompanied by the screenshots, the club states: “This is what we had to read here about Ben Manga over the weekend. There is no place for racism and any kind of discrimination at Schalke! But obviously there is for you, @X.”
“Disgusting. Are you serious?” ends the post from the club, who then address the user directly in another post and let it be known: ‘You are more than unwelcome here and you are not a Schalke fan either!’
Numerous Schalke fans agree with this and praise the club for the post. “If only our athletic performance was as excellent as our morals – my club!” ‘It remains the same: Schalke against all forms of racism!’ or ‘That’s my club, the way I love it.’ The fans also overwhelmingly support Manga – despite all the athletic uncertainties, Schalke wants to stand together.
