What a used match day for district league team ESC Preußen! The team of promotion coach Manfred Schröder experienced a debacle in Burgaltendorf.
A double-digit result is very rare in the Bezirksliga. Especially when the two teams are only five places apart in the table before the game. But on Sunday afternoon the time had come: SV Burgaltendorf swept the Bezirksliga promoted ESC Preußen off the pitch with 10:2 (5:1) and inflicted the highest defeat of the season on their opponents.
The visitors even took the lead with a lightning goal by top scorer Kai Hoffmann (4th minute), but Burgaltendorf were already comfortably ahead 5:1 at half-time. In the second half, things got even more bitter for the ESC. The favourites added five more goals and made the debacle perfect for Prussia. Not even Hoffmann’s second goal could change that.
Naturally, the guests were very disillusioned. A defeat at the ambitious SVA is certainly no disgrace, but those responsible must first come to terms with this two-figure humiliation.
This is already a huge blow! We even take the lead and have the chance to make it 2-0, but then we completely collapse after the equaliser.

Correspondingly, head coach Manfred Schröder was stunned by his team’s performance. “That’s already a huge blow! We even take the lead and have the chance to make it 2-0, but then we completely collapse after the equaliser. In the next three games before the winter break, we’ll try to get one or two points and then come up with something for the second half of the season. We can’t go on like this,” the coach told RevierSport.
After a good start to the season, the Schröder eleven lost the last three league games and has been waiting for a win for over two months (08 September, 2:1 against Ratingen II). Nevertheless, the Bezirksliga club is still above the line and has a four-point lead over the first relegation place, which is occupied by the second team of SC Velbert.
