Rot-Weiss Essen’s U19s easily progressed to the next round of the Lower Rhine Cup for A-juniors. They celebrated a double-digit victory.
Rot-Weiss Essen recorded a clear victory to kick off the Lower Rhine Cup for A-juniors. Coach Simon Hohenberg’s team celebrated a double-digit victory at TVD Velbert on Wednesday evening. The U19 Lower Rhine League side won 11:2 against their lower-ranked neighbors.
The top scorer for the Essen side was Etienne-Noel Reck, who scored a brace. Milot Ademi, Mats Brune, Glenn Byakoua Youbi, Gianluca Swajkowski, Ben Berzen, Lennart Bollenberg and Yan Friessner were also successful.
Stefan Okkert and Sinan Kocak reduced the deficit for TVD before the end of the first and second periods. The Red & Whites have thus fulfilled their duty and advanced to the round of 16. Their next opponent has not yet been determined. Eight first-round duels, including MSV Duisburg’s match at Sportfreunde Baumberg, still have to be played.
Before the cup continues, Rot-Weiss will start the remaining round of the Niederrheinliga. The league leaders will welcome bottom-of-the-table VfL Rehde next Sunday (January 28, 11 a.m.) to kick off the year.
