The U19 team of Rot-Weiss Essen has easily advanced to the next round of the Lower Rhine Cup for A-juniors. They celebrated a double-digit victory.
Rot-Weiss Essen has recorded a clear victory at the start of the Lower Rhine Cup for A-juniors. On Wednesday evening, the team of coach Simon Hohenberg celebrated a double-digit victory at TVD Velbert. The U19 Lower Rhine league team won 11-2 against the city neighbors from a lower league.
Top scorer for Essen was Etienne-Noel Reck, who netted four times. The other goals were scored by Milot Ademi, Mats Brune, Glenn Byakoua Youbi, Gianluca Swajkowski, Ben Berzen, Lennart Bollenberg and Yan Friessner.
Stefan Okkert and Sinan Kocak scored for TVD before the end of the first and second half. The Red & Whites have thus fulfilled their duty and advanced to the round of 16. The identity of their next opponent is not yet known. Eight first-round duels, including MSV Duisburg’s game at Sportfreunde Baumberg, have yet to be played.
Before the cup resumes, Rot-Weiss will start the final round of the Niederrheinliga. The league leaders will host bottom-of-the-table VfL Rehde in the first game of the year on Sunday (January 28, 11 a.m.).
