There was only one match in the Oberliga Westfalen on Sunday. TuS Bövinghausen ended its losing streak against SpVgg Vrede.
TuS Bövinghausen shared the spotlight on the 16th match day of the Oberliga Westfalen with SpVgg Vreden on Sunday. The remaining matches fell victim to the weather conditions and some were canceled early.
The Dortmund team initially did everything they could to justify this attention. After just under a quarter of an hour, it was Jeron El-Hazaimeh who put Bövinghausen in the lead (14th minute). The defender seemed to have been gripped by a desire to score goals. Just seven minutes later, he made it 2-0 (21′). It was already the 31-year-old’s fifth goal of the season.
Bövinghausen wanted to go into the break with a two-goal lead. Vreden had other ideas and pulled one back through Leon Kondring (43′) before referee Leonidas Exuzidis blew the whistle for half-time.
However, coach Baris Özbek’s team did not let that throw them off their game. Shortly after the break, Marcus Piossek restored the two-goal lead with the score at 3-1 (51′). This time, Al-Hazaimeh set up the goal.
This lead was not to last until the end of the game. Maximilian Hinkelmann (70) scored again for Vreden. After that, however, the score remained unchanged.
TuS Bövinghausen thus secured its first win in four league games and is now ninth in the table.
Dortmund are back in action this Friday, when they travel to SV Schermbeck (December 8, 7 p.m.). SVS recently defeated league leaders Sportfreunde Lotte 3-2. SpVgg Vreden welcomes ASC 09 Dortmund (December 10, 2:30 p.m.).
