All three teams in the Essen Kreisliga A have now been promoted to the Bezirksliga. And the deciding match for staying in the league was also played on Sunday.
In Essen, the third team to be promoted to the district league has been decided since this Sunday afternoon. After a memorable deciding match, SC Türkiyemspor can rejoice over their promotion.
The SCT beat RuWa Dellwig 1-0 after extra time and, thanks to this victory, will be competing above the Kreisliga for the first time in 15 years.
For a long time, the promotion match at Meerbruchstraße did not offer any goals to the almost 1000 spectators, but the final phase was all the more dramatic. At 0-0, the game went into extra time. At this point, Türkiyemspor had long been outnumbered after a dismissal in the 65th minute.
When the 30 minutes of extra time remained without a goal and the penalty shootout was already in the air, a goal was scored. In added time, SC were awarded a penalty kick. Ferhat Yalcin kept his nerve and scored the decisive goal to advance (120.+1). Afterwards, a RuWa player also saw the red card (120.+6).
While the frustration was great for the Dellwigers, Türkiyemspor followed SuS Haarzopf and TGD Essen-West into the Bezirksliga. Haarzopf’s second team, which as champions was also entitled to promotion, had dropped out.
NK Croatia saves itself, Freisenbruch must go down
And the last outstanding decision in the relegation battle was also made on this Sunday. TC Freisenbruch has to go down to the B-League, while NK Croatia Essen will play another year in the highest district league.
In the relegation showdown, Croatia defeated Freisenbruch 3:1. Yücel Demirdere put NK in the lead at Wendelinstraße (29th), but TC responded a little later through Anas Mouhtadi, who converted a penalty kick (36th).
For a long time, the score remained at 1-1, before NK made everything clear in the final quarter of an hour: Mehdi Methnani scored the 2-1 (75th), before Luka Ljubic scored the decisive 3-1 (86th).
VfL Sportfreunde 07 were already relegated in the regular season, while TuS 84/10 Essen, SC Phönix and Vogelheimer SV II withdrew their teams.
