SV Burgaltendorf is currently the team to beat in the Niederrhein 6 District League. For the last-place team, the only question is when they’ll hit the 100-goal mark against them.
Rot-Weiss Essen II has recently faced all the top teams in the Niederrhein 6 District League. The results are sobering.
Five games, one win, two draws, two losses. On Sunday, they suffered a 1-2 home defeat against SpVgg Sterkrade 06/07. Aaron Langen put the Oberhausen side ahead. After the break, former pro Marcel Platzek equalized for Rot-Weiss Essen.
With 15 minutes remaining, Essen’s Jan-Luca Geurtz was sent off with a red card after committing a foul at the midfield line. It was a harsh decision, and shortly thereafter, while down a man, Essen fell behind 1-2.
Maximilian Felix Zachariasz scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. The score remained that way. Result: Spvgg Sterkrade 06/07 climbed to second place, as Vogelheimer SV lost their match at Tusem Essen 0-1.
With 31 points, Sterkrade now trails SV Burgaltendorf by three points, who secured their top-of-the-table clash at VfB Frohnhausen in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Laurin Kamperhoff put the league leaders ahead. Mohamed Said equalized after the break. Kamperhoff then scored again—but Frohnhausen managed to equalize the 2-1 score through Komlan Agbegniadan. And then, deep into stoppage time, it was Kamperhoff once more who capped off his performance with a third goal.
Burgaltendorf is now unbeaten in ten matches (nine wins, one draw). Another team still in the mix at the top is Arminia Klosterhardt. The Oberhausen side won 1-0 at Fatihspor Essen.
Meanwhile, RWE II has to settle for less. After the 1-2 loss, coach Stefan Lorenz’s team sits in sixth place in the standings—already ten points behind the leader from Burgaltendorf.
Sixth place would be a position BG Überruhr would gladly occupy. But the last-place team remains cannon fodder. Over the weekend, they suffered a humiliating 1-9 defeat against SuS Haarzopf. 13 games, 13 losses, 86 goals conceded. The only question remaining is when Überruhr will break the 100-goal mark.
