Dress rehearsal in France – family day is set

The dress rehearsal for VfL Bochum will take place on August 10, 2024. In France. The family day, however, will take place as usual in the Ruhrstadion.

Bundesliga club VfL Bochum will play its final test match of the summer preparations ahead of the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season on August 10, 2024. Their opponents for the dress rehearsal will be French first division side Le Havre AC.

As the club announced on Friday, the test match will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Stade Océane and a live stream is planned. A home match at the Ruhrstadion was not possible this year. The reason for this is the extensive maintenance and conversion work on the voice alarm system, which will take place during the summer break. This means that the existing system is temporarily out of operation and it is not possible to play matches with spectators.

Le Havre was founded in 1894, making it one of the oldest clubs in France. In the 2022/23 season, the club returned to the French top flight as champions of Ligue 2 after 14 years. Last season, the former club of VfL misunderstanding Lys Mousset secured a 15th place finish in the league.

VfL Bochum: Family day at the Ruhrstadion

While the dress rehearsal cannot take place in Bochum, VfL Bochum’s traditional family day on Sunday, August 11, will be held at the Ruhrstadion. The team will be back on time for this and will be able to fulfill all the fans’ autograph and photo requests.

A week later, things will get serious for the team of new coach Peter Zeidler. First comes the first round of the DFB Cup on 18.08.2024 (15:30), where VfL will face SSV Jahn Regensburg, before the new Bundesliga season kicks off the following weekend. Here too, Bochum will start away from home on Saturday, August 24 (3:30 p.m.) at RB Leipzig.

But that is still a long way off. Until then, Zeidler and his men will have to work hard! The next test match is scheduled for Saturday: Their opponents are 1. FC Magdeburg.

“The plan is that we’ll make a complete change again and use all twenty players who are currently fit and make another complete change at half-time. We think we can still do that three weeks before the start. Then we’ll extend the playing time during the training camp and then we’ll be ready for the first cup game – that’s the plan,” said Zeidler ahead of the game.
