Dominick Drexler has extended his contract at FC Schalke 04 until June 2025 – that was already known. Now the club has announced the details.
It had been known for several days that Dominick Drexler had extended his contract with second-division soccer club FC Schalke 04, and this newspaper had also reported on it. Now the Royal Blues have made it official – and announced further details.
Drexler, whose original contract would have expired in June 2024, has extended his contract until June 30, 2025 for the time being. The 33-year-old midfielder will be part of the Royal Blues’ professional team at least until then.
“Dominick is characterized by his intelligence and creativity. He can make clever use of spaces and control the game on the pitch,” enthused sporting director André Hechelmann. Coach Karel Geraerts said: “Dominick is a very good footballer who understands the game and takes responsibility. The young players in particular benefit enormously from his experience. “
Can identify with all of the club’s values

Drexler’s new contract contains, as the club put it, “options for further cooperation. Drexler had already acquired the B+ coaching license via the “Players Pathway” program in parallel to his professional training.
“We are delighted that he will continue to contribute his qualities to the club both on and off the pitch.” Captain Simon Terodde (35) has signed a similar contract. Terodde’s contract runs for a total of three years, after each season the sporting management decides whether he will continue to play for the professionals or support the club in another capacity. At the same time, he will go through a trainee program and, like Drexler, will receive support in acquiring coaching licenses.
“I’m delighted to be playing for this special club for another year,” said Drexler himself. “I can identify with all the values that characterize this club and will continue to work hard to repay the trust placed in me.” Drexler is an undisputed leading figure in the team
