SG Essen-Schönebeck are sniffing their way out of the basement. Against 1. FC Lintfort, SGS can leave the relegation places behind them.
SG Essen-Schönebeck’s form curve clearly indicates that they will remain in the Landesliga season 2. Three wins in a row give SGS real hope that relegation can still be averted.
The SGS from Essen also impressed in the cup, beating ESC Rellinghausen on penalties. Vogelheimer SV, who beat VfB Frohnhausen, await in the semi-finals.
Prior to their winning streak, the team from Essen had gone eight games without a win and suffered five defeats. Olaf Rehmann’s side were seven points away from the first non-relegation place. The sky over Schönebeck became very dark.
“Of course our mood is a little better thanks to the wins, but it’s not as if it’s relaxed. We’re still a long way from that,” laughs the coach. “Since we knew that we would be stuck at the bottom and would have to fight, we accept the situation as it is,” added Rehmann.
A win would be incredibly nice and would bring some relief. Lintfort probably thinks so too

The new starting position still reads tense, but with significantly more hope and, above all, euphoria. The sports club is in the relegation spot – level on points with the first relegation spot in the table. This is occupied by 1. FC Lintfort.
As luck would have it, that is also the SGS’s next opponent. Rehmann has to travel to Volkspark with his charges. “A win would be incredibly nice and would bring some relief. Lintfort probably feel the same way,” says Rehmann.
The SGS coach will have to make some changes for the basement duel. The teacher didn’t count on the start of the vacations: “The well-coordinated squad from previous games will be shaken up a bit. A few are on vacation and I’m missing two players due to a fifth yellow card. I’ll have to tinker a bit.”
And he himself will also be absent next week. Rehmann will not be on the touchline against FC Kray in the English week. He will be taking a well-deserved vacation over Easter. “My coaching team will take care of that,” Rehmann tells his colleagues
