Duisburg’s Inanoglu shines again, Schalke wins thanks to a hat trick

MSV Duisburg remained unbeaten for the fourth time in a row at 1. FC Köln, winning 4-2. Schalke also had reason to celebrate, while Leverkusen narrowly avoided a slip-up.

On the 13th matchday of the A-Junior Bundesliga West, MSV Duisburg faced a tough challenge away to fifth-placed 1. FC Köln. The Zebras, who went into the matchday in eighth place with 15 points from their first twelve games, had previously gone four games unbeaten.

At the Franz-Kremer-Stadion, Kaan Inanoglu, whom many MSV fans have been eager to see play for the pros for weeks, once again had a good day. He gave his side the lead after 23 minutes, but Jaka Potocnik equalized shortly before halftime (34′). But shortly after the 1-1, the Duisburg striker was on hand again and scored his eighth goal of the season to give his side the lead at half-time (39).

After the break, it was a double strike from Kasper Harbering (61) and Enes Rüzgar (62). That sealed the away win. Potocnik’s second goal of the day to make it 2-4 came too late for Cologne.

Amoussou-Tchibara excels for S04

Schalke also had reason to celebrate away from home – and they had one player in particular to thank for that: Zaid Amoussou-Tchibara. The winger from Togo excelled against Fortuna Düsseldorf with a hat-trick (42nd, 70th, 86th), virtually single-handedly securing a 3-0 victory for his team at the Paul-Janes-Stadion. In between, goalkeeper Luca Podlech saved a penalty from Mechak Quiala-Tito (58th).

Meanwhile, BVB’s pursuers from Leverkusen narrowly avoided a major slip-up. The Werkself took an early lead through Enes Yilmaz (6th minute) against basement side Viktoria Köln, but after the break, Said El Mala (54th minute) and Sisco Ngambia Dzonga (61st minute) surprisingly turned the game around. However, Viktoria were not rewarded for their efforts, as Francis Onyeka equalized before Raoul Petak scored the winning goal for Bayer 04 in the fourth minute of stoppage time. This puts the Werkself three points ahead of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table, albeit with three games in hand.
