The atmosphere was tense ahead of the Hertha BSC vs. Dynamo Dresden match. However, according to police, things remained calm after Berlin’s victory.
According to police, there were 30 arrests surrounding the high-risk match between Hertha BSC and Dynamo Dresden. The primary reasons were physical assaults, resisting law enforcement officers, and bodily injury, the police reported.
According to the police, there were no clashes between fans of either team around Berlin’s Olympic Stadium following the 2nd Bundesliga match. “Everything was calm,” said a police spokeswoman late in the afternoon following the hosts’ 2-0 victory. “There were no further incidents after the game.” The fans’ departure proceeded peacefully.
The police strategy involved routing Hertha fans along completely different paths than Dynamo supporters. Ideally, they were not supposed to encounter each other at all. “That worked well,” said the police spokeswoman.
There were disturbances before the start of the game
Before the start of the second-division match, however, fans of both teams had sought confrontation inside the stadium. According to police reports, several hundred fans from both sides attempted to run toward each other on the upper concourse.
However, they were stopped by police and security personnel. Additionally, isolated instances of pyrotechnics were set off at the entrance. Hertha fans and supporters of the club from the Saxon capital have long been rivals.
