Borussia Dortmund recorded a relaxed victory in the first test match under new head coach Nuri Sahin
In the “dream match” against the DEW21 dream team, a squad peppered with lottery millionaire Chico, influencers and Dortmund amateur players, BVB won 7:1 (2:1) without its European Championship participants.
Ex-professional Sahin, who was Edin Terzic’s assistant coach at the Champions League finalists last season, made the expected changes. Niklas Süle, Julian Brandt and Sebastien Haller were among those on the pitch in the first half, while the likes of Youssoufa Moukoko and U17 World Cup winner Paris Brunner came on after the break.
Felix Nmecha (5, 7), youngster Almugera Kabar (64), Moukoko (76, 84), Ayman Azhil (78) and Brunner (88) scored the goals for the Black & Yellows at the Montanhydraulik-Stadion in Holzwickede.
BVB’s pre-season preparations begin on July 19 with a tour of Asia, followed by the traditional training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. The first competitive match under Sahin will take place on August 17, when BVB will face regional league side Phönix Lübeck in the first round of the DFB Cup and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga opener a week later.
