As expected, MSV Duisburg clearly won the test match against the district league team Duisburger SV 1900. It was the penultimate test before the start of the regional league
With just over a week to go before the start of the season in the Regionalliga West, MSV Duisburg have gained further confidence. The Zebras celebrated an 8:0 victory in the last-minute test match against district league side Duisburger SV 1900 on Wednesday evening
At Westender Straße, coach Dietmar Hirsch sent an eleven onto the pitch that could also be fielded in a competitive match. Alexander Hahn made his first appearance as official MSV captain – Hirsch had elevated the experienced defender to this position on Wednesday.
It took a while for the Meiderich side to create their first chance, before Steffen Meuer opened the scoring to make it 1-0 (17′). Surprisingly, the score remained at this level until the break. Goalkeeper Tobias Wünnenberg stood out in particular for the clearly inferior visitors.
Hirsch made nine changes at the break, with only Can Coskun and Leon Müller remaining on the pitch. Jesse Tugbenyo was also used as a test player. The 22-year-old attacking player is currently looking for a club after his contract with SC Paderborn ended.
In the second half, the 250 spectators were treated to several goals: Malek Fakhro scored three times (61st, 72nd, 84th), Jakob Bookjans scored a brace (68th, 74th, penalty). Jihad Boutakhrit (47) and Patrick Sussek (90, penalty) were also successful.
Duisburg’s season starts the Friday after next with an away match at FC Gütersloh (July 26, 7:30 p.m.). Before that, they have a dress rehearsal against English fourth division side Notts County on Saturday (2 p.m., PCC Stadium). There are also two events off the pitch: the family day on Sunday at Westender Straße and the extraordinary AGM including board elections next Tuesday.
