Easy win in Westfalenpokal – Further additions are possible

While some third division rivals are in DFB Cup action this weekend, Preußen Münster must first qualify for the competition next season.

The easiest way to be in the 2024/2025 DFB Cup is through the Westfalenpokal. Along with SC Verl and Arminia Bielefeld, Preußen Münster is one of the three big favourites to win the Association Cup.

The Prussians underlined this on Saturday (12 August). Coach Sascha Hildmann’s team won 14:1 at Cheruskia Laggenbeck and easily advanced to the second round.

Lukas Frenkert (11th, 45th), Thorben Deters (13th), Marvin Benjamins (18th, 39th), Andrew Wooten (23rd, 55th, 58th, 61st, 67th), Darius Ghindovean (38th/42nd), Niko Koulis (64th) and Deniz Batmaz (78th) scored the goals for Preußen Münster.

Although Preußen have started the season well – 0:0 against Borussia Dortmund II and progressing in the Westphalia Cup – sporting director Peter Niemeyer does not rule out further additions. Niemeyer told the “Westfälische Nachrichten”: “We are alert. Our squad is small. The month is still long.”
