Marcel Bär, last season’s top scorer in the 3. Liga with 21 goals, had informed the Löwen early on that he would not extend his contract and was looking for a new challenge.
Semi Belkahia, who played a total of 71 competitive games for 1860, is also leaving. Joseph Boyamba is leaving the Löwen again after just one year.
The attacker, who was born in Troisdorf near Cologne, started playing football for Sportfreunde Troisdorf 05. Later, he moved to FC Hennef 05. Via MSV Duisburg, he came to FC Schalke 04 in 2014. And: His path could lead to the 2nd Bundesliga. According to information from RevierSport, Boyamba has received several enquiries from the German lower leagues.
Raphael Holzhauser returns to Belgium to OH Leuven. The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract.
Stefan Lex, who had already slept in Löwen bed linen as a child and chose the shirt number 7 as a reminiscence of Daniel Bierofka, ends his career. In his five years in the Sechzger jersey, the striker played 161 games in the 3rd division (29/47), five in the DFB Cup (1/1) and 16 in the Toto Cup (6/4). In autumn, he will work for the club in a function yet to be defined.
Quirin Moll, Daniel Wein and Marius Willsch are the departures six, seven and eight. First and foremost, 32-year-old Willisch, who, like Lex, is ending his career, became emotional in an interview with “Magenta TV” and said: “It’s quite intense, I must say. I’m enjoying the moment with the family now. I think there will be a beer or two flowing today. “
