FC Schalke 04 II has strengthened its offense once again, making a move to regional league rivals 1. FC Düren.
Simon Breuer will wear the FC Schalke 04 jersey with immediate effect. The attacking midfielder joins the second team from Regionalliga West rivals 1. FC Düren, as announced by Königsblau on Thursday, June 13.
“Simon is an attacking player who moves completely freely on the pitch and can therefore provide us with good and surprising moments towards goal. He has many one-on-one options, but also uses his dynamism to attack down the pitch. We are looking forward to an exciting player,” said Jakob Fimpel, coach of Schalke U23.
Breuer joined the youth department of 1. FC Köln in 2010. In around 14 years with the young bucks, the 1.82-meter tall attacking player went through all the youth teams.
After playing for Cologne U23 in the Regionalliga West for two years, he moved to 1. FC Düren last winter. In the second half of last season, he wore the Düren kit 14 times, scored five goals and set up three more. A decent record.
In total, Breuer has played 40 times in the Regionalliga West. He is also familiar with the U19 and U17 Bundesliga West and has played twice in the Uefa Youth League. So now the move to the Knappenschmiede.
Just one day after Timothé Rupil joined Schalke U23 from 1. FSV Mainz 05 II in the Regionalliga Südwest, Königsblau are adding to their ranks. Breuer is addition number six. In addition, Seok-ju Hong (Viktoria Köln), Tidiane Touré (1. FC Köln II), Pablo Zahnen Martinez (Viktoria Köln U19) and Niklas Frese (1. FC Gievenbeck) have already signed as external newcomers for the coming season.
On the other hand, there are 14 departures, three of which have already been decided. Emmanuel Gymafi has been promoted to the second division squad and thus to the professionals. Jimmy Kaparos is going to Rot-Weiss Essen, Justin Treichel to Dutch second division club Roda Kerkrade
