Rot-Weiß Oberhausen II remains firmly focused on promotion to Kreisliga A. The Kleeblätter celebrated their eleventh consecutive victory last matchday.
Rot-Weiß Oberhausen’s second team has taken the next step toward promotion. Last Friday (March 13), the B-League side won convincingly at home, 5-0 (2-0), against SV 1911 Bottrop.
Not even chilly temperatures of four degrees Celsius and steady rain could stop the Kleeblätter, who took control from the start and played almost exclusively toward the opponent’s goal. After a nice combination play, Philipp Klempel spotted the unmarked Christopher Harder, who slotted home the 1-0 goal in the 25th minute.
The Red-Whites maintained possession and were determined to force the 2-0, but Bottrop initially defended strongly against it. In the 41st minute, it was Florian Abel who skillfully slotted the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
“We moved the ball around well and more than deserved to go into halftime with a lead,” praised Abel.
The next goal didn’t take long to arrive in the second half either. Immediately after the restart, Florian Abel took the ball and hammered it spectacularly under the crossbar from 20 meters out—3-0.
The action continued to be directed solely toward the Bottrop goal. In the 56th minute, Harder was brought down in the penalty area and converted the resulting penalty kick himself to make it 4-0. Coach Günter Abel then made a substitution, bringing Jussef Hassan into the game, who also immediately got on the scoresheet. By the 66th minute, the score was 5-0. The Red-Whites maintained this lead until the end.
It was the eleventh straight win for Oberhausen, who continue to lead the table comfortably with a six-point lead over their closest pursuer, Grün-Weiß Holten. This coming Friday (March 20, 8 p.m.), Abel’s team will be back in action with a home game against fourth-place DJK Adler Oberhausen II.
“We’re entering an exciting phase now. Some top-tier matches are coming up. As early as Friday, we face a strong opponent in Adler Oberhausen, who will demand everything from us. We’re hoping for great support,” said Daniel Schliwa, sporting director of RWO’s second team.
