A turbulent game by Rot-Weiss Essen in Dresden and sad news for the club: That’s what we’ll be talking about in our RWE talk show.
It was an emotional rollercoaster ride that RWE experienced in the capital of Saxony on Sunday. After an eventful third division game, Rot-Weiss Essen had to settle for a 3-3 (0-1) draw at Dynamo Dresden. RWE conceded the equalizer at the last second through Dynamo striker Stefan Kutschke. A goal that, according to some Essen fans, should no longer have counted.
Despite one of their best performances of the season and taking the lead three times, they only managed to get a point against the promotion contenders Dynamo Dresden. There was great disappointment in the RWE camp, and the frustration at missing out on the win was palpable.
On the same day, the club had to cope with the news that cult fan “Glockenhorst” had died. Horst Gehle, aka Glockenhorst, was found dead in his apartment on Sunday. He was 74 years old.
There are many expressions of condolence in the social networks, and Rot-Weiss Essen has also published a statement on the death of the supporter. In the opinion of our RWE reporters and many fans, the cult supporter deserves a minute’s silence on Wednesday at the next home game against SC Verl.
Both the eventful game in Dresden and the news of Glockenhorst’s death are on the minds of RWE fans at the beginning of this English week. How should the wild game at Dynamo Dresden be classified? What memories do our experts have of Glockenhorst? This is what we talk about in our RWE talk show “vonne Hafenstraße”. Our guests are moderator Kira Alex, RWE reporter Ralf Wilhelm and our RWE reporter Martin Herms, who is joining us from Dresden. Enjoy the video and the podcast!
