Preußen Münster celebrate their promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. As the club reported, it was even more emotional than after promotion to the 3rd division.

For the past two years, some SC Preußen Münster fans have probably felt like they’ve been dreaming. First of all, there was the confident promotion from the Regionalliga West to the 3rd division. They were promoted with a fabulous season.

And in the 3rd division, coach Sascha Hildmann’s team went one better. The sensational march through has been clear since the 2:0 against Unterhaching on Saturday. Since then, there has been nothing but celebrations in Münster.

On Sunday, Münster’s Lord Mayor Markus Lewe welcomed the promoted team to the Friedenssaal in the historic town hall. Lewe emphasized: “Today is a historic day for the SCP and for the whole of Münster. On behalf of our city, I would like to congratulate the team, their coach Sascha Hildmann and the entire club as well as the great fans on this outstanding success. The Prussians have impressively shown what can be achieved with team spirit and determination. Now it’s time to push ahead with the work on the stadium together in order to create good conditions for successful home matches in Bundesliga 2.”

After the visit to the town hall, the tour continued. Münster presented itself to its supporters on a stage. There, six players and one official – Darius Ghindovean, Shaibou Oubeyapwa, Roman Schabbing, Alexander Hahn, Dennis Grote, Max Schulze Niehues and sports managing director Peter Niemeyer – were bid farewell.
