Erkenschwick gears up for the new season – 11th signing dry

Preparations for the 2024/25 season are in full swing at SpVgg Erkenschwick. The club has already announced four new signings and seven extensions.

SpVgg Erkenschwick continues to go from strength to strength. On Thursday, the Oberliga club announced the seventh contract extension for the new season. Dzenan Pilica will continue to play at the Stimberg in 2024/25.

The 26-year-old full-back, who has already proven his qualities in defensive midfield, central defense and on the right side of defense, moved to the Spielvereinigung five years ago from DSC Wanne-Eickel. In the current season, he has played 23 of 29 league games (one goal) and has also played in all four games in the Westphalia Cup. In the quarter-final tie against Preußen Münster, Pilica was sent off after 44 minutes with the score at 0-0, but SCP ultimately prevailed 4-0. The defensive player with Bosnian roots has already made a total of 105 appearances for Erkenschwick.

The squad for the coming season, in which the team will presumably once again be competing in the Oberliga Westfalen – the gap to second place for promotion is eight points with five games to go – is thus taking shape more and more.

Seven extensions, four new signings

Christoph Kasak, Christian Warnat, Mike Jordan, Finn Wortmann, Lennard Isensee and Ubeyd Güzel have already extended their contracts with the “Schwicker”. The SpVgg has also brought four new signings to the Stimberg. Last week, the club announced the transfer of Aggelos Nikolaus Meselidis from TSC Eintracht Dortmund. The day before, Theofilaktos Simakis (previously SV Lippstadt U19) was presented. He will be joined by 19-year-old Luis Oliver Schultz (Lüner SV) and Leon Bachmann (TVD Velbert).

However, before the breath of fresh air arrives in the summer, there are still five games to play in the Oberliga Westfalen. Erkenschwick will face TuS Ennepetal (H), Westfalia Rhynern (A), Victoria Clarholz (H), Eintracht Rheine (A) and, finally, fellow promoted team and regional league contender Türkspor Dortmund (H).
