Erndtebrück remains autumn champion despite defeat – draw in the Herne derby

There were only four matches on the 16th match day of the Westfalenliga 2. A promoted team continues to cause a sensation.

Even before TuS Erndtebrück took to the pitch, it was clear that they would leave it as autumn champions of the Westfalenliga 2. With neither Holzwickeder SC nor Concordia Wiemelhausen able to play on matchday 16 due to the weather conditions, Erndtebrück could no longer be displaced from first place.

Nevertheless, the Oberliga relegation team’s celebrations were likely to have been muted. They ended the year with a 1-2 defeat at newly promoted SV Westfalia Soest. Soest leap into second place, level on points with Erndtebrück. However, the league leaders have a significantly better goal difference.

FC Iserlohn kept in touch with the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Hombrucher SV. The Iserlohn team had already secured the final result before the break.

That was also how it looked at first in the city derby between DSC Wanne-Eickel and SV Sodingen. Michel Post (45+1) had given Sodingen the lead in the first half. But Wanne-Eickel did not give up and equalized in the 90th minute. This means that Sodingen jumps out of the relegation zone, but fails to give itself some breathing room. Despite the lucky punch, DSC has now gone four games without a win.

Newly promoted SpVgg Horsthausen also ended the year with a defeat. They lost 0-1 to SV Wacker Obercastrop. Elvis Shala sealed the away win with his eleventh goal of the season (60th minute).
