Leon Klußmann has not played a single minute this season. Now he is moving from the regional league to the 3rd division.
Leon Klußmann was once considered a great goalkeeping talent. Born in Essen, he played for RWE at youth level and moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2015.
He spent six years at the BVB youth training center until the summer of 2021 and was also a member of the Westphalia U23 squad for six months until January 2022. However, he did not make it into the senior squad.
Now the 21-year-old is returning to Dortmund. BVB’s U23s responded to the injury to goalkeeper Tiago Estevao by signing Klußmann, who is out of contract. He signed a contract until June 30, 2025. In the first half of the 2023/2024 season, he played for south-west regional league side KSV Hessen Kassel, but did not play a match following an injury and agreed to terminate his contract with KSV in the winter. Forecasting reported.
“I’m totally happy, I still know everything here very well and I’m delighted that I can train with a team again,” said Klußmann.
“We’re delighted that we were able to come to such a spontaneous agreement with Leon Klußmann after Tiago Estevao dropped out. Leon has already shown in the past that we can rely on him and he didn’t hesitate for a second when we asked him,” said Ingo Preuß, Sporting Director of the U23s, explaining the transfer of the young goalkeeper.
After leaving Kassel, Klußmann was combative and emphasized to this editorial team: “The half year in Kassel was ultimately a lost time. I was assured when I signed that there would be a fair fight for a place in the box. A week before the start of the season, a new keeper was brought in and named number one. Then I was sometimes on the bench, sometimes in the stands. I now want to start again in the new year and finally be in the box regularly to show what I can do.” He can now do that at his former club BVB
