Essen club and sporting director go their separate ways

A change has taken place in the sporting management of the Essen-based regional league soccer club SG Schönebeck.

SG Schönebeck played a great second half of the season, managed to stay in the regional league and even worked their way up to fourth place in the second half of the season table. Although things are going so well at the Ardelhütte, there will be a change for the new season. The club has now officially announced this.

“After a year of good and trusting cooperation, our time together as dual leadership in the sporting management is unfortunately coming to an end. Sven Tappeser is stepping down at the end of the season,” reads a press release.

Tappeser, once a player for Rot-Weiss Essen II, commented on his decision: “After careful consideration, I have decided to step down as sporting director. It was a very successful but also intensive time. Unfortunately, I had to realize that it was not possible to reconcile family life and the role of sporting director in this form.”

His counterpart Kurt Nauroschat has nothing but words of praise for the departing manager: “Thank you ‘Tappe’, it was a pleasure to fulfill this task with you. It was a trusting collaboration filled with mutual respect. Now that the first team has been relegated, you can devote more time to your family.”

Nauroschat will remain with the club as sporting director. This ensures continuity in the sporting management. CEO Martin Sprenger will support him on an interim basis until a new man is found for the role.

Landesliga: 10:0 gala for SG Schönebeck

SG Schönebeck recorded their highest win of the season last weekend. The SGS sent relegated FSV Duisburg back to Warbruckstraße with a 10-0 win in the bag. Nabil El-Hany was on the scoresheet four times.

SGS coach Olaf Rehmann was naturally satisfied: “The second half was much better than the first. Overall, however, it was a focused and good performance from my team.” As a result, Schönebeck, who have secured their place in the league, moved up to fourth place in the table for the second half of the season
