European Cup experience – former professional could help out

Tues Bövinghausen may be able to rely on some well-known support in the new Oberliga season. An ex-professional who lives abroad wants to help out if time permits.

TuS Bövinghausen has already recruited some experience for the young team this summer. Another experienced player could be playing for the Dortmund side in the coming season.

Club boss Ajan Dzaferoski announced to RS that Baris Özbek could make a comeback. The long-time professional has long since ended his active time on the pitch and now lives in Cyprus. However, the 37-year-old is often in Germany for professional reasons.

“If time permits, he’ll help out with us,” announced Dzaferoski, jokingly drawing a comparison to the two Portugal stars: ”He’s seen that Ronaldo and Pepe can still play at an advanced age.”

Özbek was already on the pitch for Bövinghausen in the 2021/22 season. At the end of last year, he also stepped in as coach at Dortmund for a short time. He is now active as an official in Cypriot soccer

Formerly Özbek played for Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga, later celebrating the third division championship with MSV Duisburg. In between, he spent several years in the Turkish Süper Lig, winning the Turkish Cup with top club Galatasaray Istanbul and also appearing in the European Cup.

In the new season, he may well lace up his boots again – for TuS Bövinghausen in the Oberliga Westfalen.
