After a failed 2022/2023 season, Selim Gündüz is full of beans again. The ex-professional is looking for a new employer.
On 15 June 2022, Forecasting reported that Selim Gündüz has found a new employer in Ankara Keciörengücü following his exit from Alemannia Aachen.
A Turkish second-division club that wanted to rely on the qualities of the darting winger. But the plan did not work out.
“I fractured my fibula in the first test match and was out for the whole season. That was a season to forget,” Gündüz is reluctant to look back. His focus is on the present and the future. Gündüz: “I’m fit as a fiddle again! I’m going full throttle with a trainer friend of mine and would like to take part in team training again. I want to really attack again!”
There are currently a few enquiries for the 29-year-old, but nothing concrete. Except for an offer from second-division club Adanaspor in Turkey. “Yes, I could move there. But I’m honest: Adana is an earthquake area and the people there have other problems than football. Turkey is not my destination at the moment. But on the other hand, I know that business is not a dream. I have to be patient and see what comes next,” says Gündüz.
According to forecasting information, there is also contact with Sportfreunde Siegen. For the Siegen boy Gündüz, this is actually an attractive option. “There were initial talks. But it didn’t really become concrete. Let’s see if anything comes of it,” reveals Gündüz, who of course would not be averse to a move within the Siegerland region.
Selim Gündüz was a crowd favourite in Aachen and Bochum
In the 2021/2022 season, Selim Gündüz played 16 games for Alemannia Aachen and became an absolute crowd favourite at the Tivoli within a few months. He had already done so with VfL Bochum. He made 53 appearances for VfL in the 2nd Bundesliga. Further stations of the native of Siegen were KFC Uerdingen, SV Darmstadt 98 and Hallescher FC.
