After a short break, Alexander Voigt is back in the coaching business. His new club officially introduced him on 10 January 2023.
Alexander Voigt was dismissed from KFC Uerdingen at the end of November 2022.
The traditional club, which plays in the Oberliga Niederrhein and is aiming for direct re-promotion to the Regionalliga West, was dissatisfied with four points from four games and sent Voigt out the door. RevierSport reported.
Around two months later, the 44-year-old Voigt is back in business. The ex-professional, who played in 79 first league and 209 second league games (including for 1. FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach) during his active career, will continue his career in the Mittelrheinliga with Siegburger SV 04.
“For SSV, Alexander Voigt will be a stroke of luck and will quickly form a powerful squad out of the talented team,” it says in a statement.
This club plays in the Mittelrheinliga and is fighting to stay in the league. After 15 games, Siegburg is in fourth last place with just twelve points, only one place above the line.
Voigt is to keep the club in the 5th division and replaces Thomas Klimmeck as coach, who was already relieved of his duties at Siegburger SV in December 2022.
For Voigt, this is now his fifth head coach position, following stints at TV Herkenrath, SSVg Velbert, Wuppertaler SV and KFC Uerdingen. He was also co-coach at Sportfreunde Siegen and Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands.
