The shuffling of posts at KFC Uerdingen continues. Now the youth department has been upgraded.
At KFC Uerdingen, not only the squad of the Oberliga team will be significantly restructured in the summer of 2023.
The board has also been restructured and there are new rules of procedure. Now the junior section has been readjusted. The junior team is to be upgraded, and Dmitry Voronov, who last coached KFC in the Oberliga Niederrhein on an interim basis, was recruited for the task.
Since 1 July, he has been the managing director of sport for the Uerdingen youth department. He thus returns to his roots, Voronov started in the youth department of the traditional club.
In 2021 – after the club’s relegation from the 3rd League – he had to tinker a squad for the Regionalliga in a short time. He also took on the job of coach, but in the situation at the time, KFC could not be saved.
After the coaching change, he was responsible as technical director and youth director at the club. He has also coached the U19s since the beginning of last season and managed to keep them in the Niederrheinliga, while at the same time he stepped in again as interim coach of the 1st team.
“Dmitry Voronov’s heart beats for KFC. He has shown this not only with his tireless commitment but also through his loyalty to the club, even in difficult times. Now he is taking over responsibility for the entire sporting youth sector,” explains KFC board member Sebastian Thißen.
“While Marcus John, as sporting director, is responsible for the men’s section with the Oberliga team, Dmitry Voronov is to lead and develop the youth section. He is not only responsible for the selection of coaches for the individual KFC youth teams, but also coordinates the sporting cooperation with SC Bayer, organises tournaments and, ultimately, should also lay the foundation for a possible NLZ in terms of perspective. “
