Ex-MSV coach Kosta Runjaic is on the verge of a new coaching engagement

Kosta Runjaic has worked in Poland for the past seven years or so. Now it looks as though the former MSV Duisburg coach will continue his career abroad.

Kosta Runjaic only had to pack his bags at Legia Warsaw at the end of April 2024. After around two years, the traditional Polish club parted ways with the German soccer coach, who still has a valid contract with Legia until June 30, 2026.

Good news for the Warsaw management and the bank account: This contract could become invalid in a few days. According to reports in the Italian media, the former MSV Duisburg coach is on the verge of signing for Serie A club Udinese Calcio.

After a disappointing 10th place in the 2021/22 Polish Ekstraklasa, Legia Warsaw – champions in the previous two seasons – opted for Kosta Runjaic in the summer of 2022 in search of a new impetus.

Runjaic led Legia to second place. The runners-up then played a strong European Cup season in 2023/2024 and advanced to the last 16 of the Conference League. They were then eliminated by Norwegian representative Molde FK. However, Legia also had to bow out of the Ekstraklasa title race at an early stage.

21 months after signing in Warsaw, the Polish record champions parted company with the Viennese-born German national after a 1:1 draw against eventual champions Jagiellonia Bialystok. Now, after around seven years in Poland, his path could lead him to Italy.
