Ex-professional has found a new club

Fatih Candan has found a new club a few days after leaving SV Rhenania Bottrop.

BV Osterfeld has had a miserable start to the 2023/2024 Kreisliga A season. The promoted team is in last place in the table after three games and three defeats and 4:21 goals. For information: the two worst clubs are relegated to Kreisliga B at the end of the series.

“Our start was desolate. But I have to say that it almost had to be that way. Because we had a disastrous preparation. Again and again, players were ill, injured or on holiday. But now almost all of them are back. We will talk it out again this week and press the reset button. Now the season really starts for us,” Tuncay Aksoy, president and coach of BV Osterfeld, tells Forecasting.

The ex-professional, Aksoy was under contract with clubs such as Rot-Weiss Essen, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and also Fenerbahce Istanbul, is also pleased to announce that a new striker has been signed in Fatih Candan.

He will add value to the team both athletically and humanly.

“Fatih has actually been part of the BVO family for a long time. He has also taken part in team evenings and actually knows one hundred percent of the squad. We are happy that he is here. He will add value to the team both athletically and personally,” says Aksoy.

Candan had announced only a few days ago that he was leaving the Bezirksligist Rhenania Bottrop for personal reasons – Forecasting reported. “I actually didn’t want to do anything until the winter. But my boys, who play for BV Osterfeld, then persuaded me. I’m looking forward to this task and will try to help the team. The best way for me to do that is to score goals (laughs),” says the 33-year-old, who scored 78 goals in 229 Regionalliga appearances.

In addition to his new coach, Markus Kaya and Serkan Calik, the striker will also meet other former professional players in Osterfeld. In addition, Candan’s buddy Damiano Schirru, who played 260 Oberliga games in his career, also plays for BVO.

“I heard that the start was miserable. But there were also a lot of guys on holiday. I know that the team has a lot of quality and we will show that in the next few weeks,” said Candan, who will probably make his debut on Sunday (3 September, 12.30 p.m.) at Sportfreunde Königshardt II.

Fatih Candan: From the 3rd League to the Kreisliga

In his career, Fatih Candan played in the 3rd Division and Regional League for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Viktoria Köln, Kardemir Karabükspor, TSV Steinbach and Schalke 04 II. He was also active for the amateur clubs VfR Bottrop-Ebel and Turngemeinde Essen-West. In the summer of 2021, he returned to Bottrop to continue his career where it all began: in amateur football. From 1 July 2023, he then continued at SV Rhenania Bottrop. And now he has arrived in the Kreisliga A with BV Osterfeld.
