Ex-Schalke player involved in eight of nine goals

What was going on in Paderborn on Saturday? Madness! SC Paderborn took Holstein Kiel apart with 7:2. Interesting: ex-Schalkers were involved in eight of those nine goals.Bielefeld score on Scherning debut, Lautern beat Fürth

Arminia Bielefeld have at least picked up their first point in the 2nd Bundesliga on the debut of new coach Daniel Scherning.

Arminia Bielefeld have at least scored their first point in the 2nd Bundesliga on the debut of new coach Daniel Scherning. At the previous second-placed team, 1. FC Heidenheim, the East Westphalians with Scherning, who was hired from third-division team VfL Osnabrück, managed a 1-1 draw despite being shorthanded for 15 minutes (1:1). The Arminen had lost all of their first four games under Uli Forte, who was hired in the summer and has now been suspended again.

Bielefeld, however, remains second to last, and fellow relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth continues to have huge problems. The Franconians lost to promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1:3 (1:0) and are still winless with three points in 15th place. Lautern, in fourth place, have secured themselves a place at the top for the time being. Two places behind them is Hansa Rostock, who have nine points after a 2-0 (2-0) win over FC St. Pauli in the North. St. Pauli have seven.

Leading the table after Matchday 5 is SC Paderborn, who celebrated a 7-2 shoot-out against Kiel on Saturday, ahead of Darmstadt 98 after Friday’s 2-1 coup at top favourites Hamburger SV.

SC Paderborn has taken the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga – and with a real football firework. The SCP demolished Holstein Kiel 7:2.

It was also a historic success for the East Westphalians. Never before had Paderborn scored seven goals in a second-division home match. No wonder that the almost 10,000 spectators felt well entertained.

Keyword record: The fact that eight former FC Schalke 04 players are involved in nine goals in one competitive match should also be a record. That was namely the case in Paderborn.

One after the other: Robert Leipertz, an ex-Schalker, provided the assist for Paderborn’s 1:0 goal. In Kiel’s 1:1 equaliser, Steven Skrzybski, also a former Gelsenkirchener, was the player with the scorer’s point. On we go: SCP’s 4:1 was then a co-production of two former Königsblauer: Marvin Pieringer laid on, Felix Platte finished. Platte also scored the 5:1. Skrzybski then scored the goal that brought the score back to 2:5. Pieringer scored the 6:2 for Paderborn and Jonas Carls provided the assist for the 7:2 goal. In other words, eight of the nine goals were scored by former FC Schalke 04 professionals. Crazy!
