The leading fan organization Unsere Kurve accuses Borussia Dortmund of lack of attitude and greed following the announcement of its sponsorship partnership with the arms manufacturer Rheinmetall.
“It wasn’t just the investor debate that made it clear that moral standards don’t matter in the business of soccer. This deal sets a new low on an apparently open-ended greed scale,” chairman Jost Peter told the SID on Wednesday: “Even the fig leaf of the alleged fan participation doesn’t change that.”
Our Curve spokesperson Thomas Kessen also called it “audacious to talk about taking responsibility with such a deal”. Rheinmetall will be BVB’s “Champion Partner” for an initial period of three years, and the logo of the DAX company from Düsseldorf will also be on display in preparation for the Champions League final against Real Madrid in London on Saturday (21:00/ZDF and DAZN).
