What is going on with Arminia Bielefeld? The East Westphalia team has only won once in their last few games. The fans’ displeasure is growing.
And again no victory: Arminia Bielefeld conceded the fourth defeat in a row with a 2-0 defeat at league leaders SSV Jahn Regensburg. In this negative streak, the DSC also scored only one goal.
The negative results continue: the double relegated team – Arminia was relegated from the 1st in 2022 and from the 2nd in 2023 – has only won one of its last ten matches (2-0 on December 17, 2023).
It’s clear that with only two points separating them from the bottom of the table, fan dissatisfaction is growing – and so is the pressure on coach Mitch Kniat. After all, there is the threat of a freefall into the Regionalliga West – the third relegation in a row, a horror scenario!
“We gave away gifts and were already playing catch-up in the first half. It was an extremely avoidable defeat. It hurts especially,” said coach Mitch Kniat after the 2-0 loss in Regensburg in an interview with ‘MagentaSport’.
We have to deliver, deliver, deliver. Otherwise you won’t get out of it!
Mitch Kniat
Kniat, who left SC Verl for Bielefeld last summer because he expected better sporting prospects there – and now Verl, of all clubs, are in the promotion fight – is also under pressure. After the Regensburg game, he said: “I feel the backing. Besides, it’s not about me, but about Arminia Bielefeld.” But Kniat also knows that, in the best case, a home win should follow as early as the next match day against Viktoria Cologne. He emphasized: ”We have to deliver, deliver, deliver. Otherwise, you won’t get out of it!”
600 Arminia fans who made the trip were annoyed after the defeat in Bavaria. They asked the DSC professionals in Regensburg to report. Bielefeld midfielder Marius Wörl revealed what happened at the fence: “They come all the way to Regensburg even when we’re not doing well, I can only say thank you. After the game, there were also many encouraging words.”
