What’s going on with Arminia Bielefeld? The East Westphalians have only won once in their last few games. The fans’ resentment is growing.
And no win again: Arminia Bielefeld conceded their fourth defeat in a row with a 2-0 loss at league leaders SSV Jahn Regensburg. The DSC also only scored one goal in this negative series.
The negative results continue: The double relegated team – Arminia will be relegated from Bundesliga 1 in 2022 and Bundesliga 2 in 2023 – has one win in its last ten matches – a 2-0 victory on December 17, 2023.
With just two points ahead of the first relegation place, the fans’ resentment is growing – as is the pressure on coach Mitch Kniat. After all, there is the threat of a free fall into the Regionalliga West – the third relegation in a row, a horror scenario!
“We gave away gifts and were already running behind the music in the first half. That was an extremely avoidable defeat. It particularly hurts,” said coach Mitch Kniat in an interview with “MagentaSport” after the 2-0 defeat in Regensburg.
We have to deliver, deliver, deliver. Otherwise you won’t get out of it!
Mitch Kniat
Kniat, who left SC Verl for Bielefeld last summer because he thought he had better sporting prospects – Verl, of all clubs, are currently in the promotion battle – is also under pressure. He said after the Regensburg game: “I can feel the backing. And it’s not about me, it’s about Arminia Bielefeld.” But Kniat also knows that, in the best-case scenario, a home win against Viktoria Köln should follow on the next matchday. He emphasized: “We have to deliver, deliver, deliver. Otherwise you won’t get out of it!”
600 Arminia fans in attendance were angry after the defeat in Bavaria. They asked the DSC professionals to report to Regensburg. Bielefeld midfielder Marius Wörl revealed what happened at the fence: “They come all the way to Regensburg, even when things aren’t going well for us, so I can only say thank you. There were also a lot of encouraging words after the game.”
