Some Borussia Dortmund fans are raising money for a signing of football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
With a crowdfunding campaign, the organiser has set the very ambitious goal of collecting a total of 40 million euros to be able to lure the Portuguese from Manchester United to the Bundesliga. On Saturday afternoon, there were initially only 31 supporters, but they want to provide a little more than 11,100 euros. If the hoped-for sum is not reached or a transfer does not come about anyway, no one has to pay anything. Initially, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” had reported.
As of Saturday, the campaign is to run until 1 October, the summer transfer window already closing on 1 September.
The collection campaign is also a reaction to the long absence of BVB attacker Sébastien Haller, who will miss longer after a cancer diagnosis. The 37-year-old Ronaldo, on the other hand, reportedly wants to leave Manchester because he wants to continue playing in the Champions League. The English Premier League club missed out on qualification. BVB will play in the European top flight this season as German runners-up.
