FC Karnap 07/27 is only bobbing around in mid-table in the Kreisliga A. Things looked good for a long time for the promoted team from Essen – then things took a turn for the worse.
For a long time, FC Karnap 07/27 was in the thick of the promotion race in Kreisliga A instead of just being there. Now they are only seventh in the table after the first half of the season. Instead of being a top team, the promoted team from Karnap is now only mediocre and, with a 14-point gap to league leaders Fatihspor, probably has nothing to do with promotion.
Karnap coach Daniel Jost on…
The first half of the season: “We are quite satisfied. We are exactly where we had hoped to be – in a secure mid-table position. As a newly promoted team, we didn’t have any great ambitions for the top. So things are looking really good for us.”
What was your best moment? “That was probably the first matchday against Spvg Schonnebeck II. All the effort and work we put in last season was finally rewarded with this moment of being able to play in the district league. That feeling was really nice. We even won the game 3:2. That was a really great start to the season.”
What was your worst moment? “That’s a bit of a paradox, but I can mention the second leg against Schonnebeck. It wasn’t in the first half of the season, but we lost three players at the start of the second half. Unfortunately, they all suffered serious injuries. Torn ligaments, broken ankles and everything else.”
The goals for the new year: “A clear story: We want to collect as many points as we can. I’m someone who actually likes to dig deep. You can’t be particularly disappointed in the end. The goal I would set myself right now would be to finish the season in a single-digit place in the table. If it were up to my absolute dream, then I would simply say top 5. That would be something nice. “
