FC Kray put an exclamation mark on the Landesliga Niederrhein: The result is a new leader.
FC Kray faced SV Scherpenberg in the Landesliga Niederrhein 2. And the Essen team passed the task with flying colours.
The league leader was sent home after 90 minutes with 4:1. Marc Gotzeina put FCK in the lead, Danilo Settimio Curaba increased it in first-half stoppage time.
After the change, the match became tense for a short time after the Scherpenberger scored 1:2 through the connection of ex-professional Kostas Mitroglou. But Danilo Curaba and Gotzeina again put the lid on the game.
The reward for Kray was a jump to second place in the table. Only the new leaders SV Biemenhorst are ahead of Kray due to their better goal difference. Biemenhorst won 5:0 at SV Essen-Schönebeck.
Schönebeck is still waiting for its first win of the season. Just like ESC Rellinghausen, who lost to VfB Speldorf. Sterkrade-Nord also remains winless and holds the red lantern. On Sunday, they lost 1:2 at 1. FC Lintfort.
SpVgg Steele did better and celebrated their first win after a spectacular derby victory against VfB Frohnhausen. The score was 4:3 after 90 minutes.
Steele led 2:0 after twelve minutes and Frohnhausen 3:2 after 47 minutes, but the Steeler showed morale and turned the match around with two goals.
There was no winner in the match between Arminia Klosterhardt and SV Hönnepel-Niedermörmter. The 0:0 at least allowed Hö.-Nie. to collect the first point and Klosterhardt to stand defensively better than in the disastrous 0:5 at SV Biemenhorst.
This makes SV Budberg, who lost at FSV Duisburg, the only team apart from Sterkrade-Nord that does not yet have a point on its credit side. This will have to change in a week’s time when Sterkrade and Budberg meet in a direct duel (Sunday, 27 August, 3 p.m.).
