VfL Bochum has announced the next new arrival. He comes to Castroper Straße from second-division club 1. FC Magdeburg.
VfL Bochum has made another move on the transfer market. On Thursday evening, the Bundesliga club announced the signing of Moritz-Broni Kwarteng (25). The attacking midfielder is transferring to Castroper Straße from second-division club 1. FC Magdeburg and will receive a four-year contract.
For the Stuttgart-born player, the Bochum club will be digging deep into their pockets. According to information from this editorial team, a transfer fee of 1.1 million euros is due. Bonus payments may increase the amount. If the Bochum team stays in the league, another six-figure sum will be due. In addition, the FCM will participate in a possible resale.
“We have been intensively considering Moritz-Broni Kwarteng for some time, so it is all the more pleasing that the transfer has now been completed,” says Marc Lettau about the signing of the German-Ghanaian. He describes Kwarteng’s style of play as follows: “He can be used variably in the offensive, has a distinctive box-to-box play and is an additional invigorating element for our game due to his dynamism and speed.”
Kwarteng played in the men’s side of Hamburger SV’s reserve team before moving to 1. FC Magdeburg in January 2022. With the eastern club, he achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. Under former RWE coach Christian Titz, the 25-year-old advanced to become a key player in the Magdeburg team. He scored ten goals in the past second division season and set up three others. Kwarteng played a major role in keeping the promoted team out of the relegation zone. Now the goal-scoring attacker will be able to prove his skills in the Bundesliga.
After Felix Passlack (Borussia Dortmund), midfielder Lukas Daschner (FC St. Pauli), centre-back Noah Loosli (Grasshoppers Zurich) and goalkeeper Niclas Thiede (SC Verl), Moritz-Broni Kwarteng is VfL Bochum’s fifth external addition.
