Third division football club MSV Duisburg beat 1. FC Bocholt 3:1 (0:0) in a test match. It was the first endurance test for the Zebras.
Third test match, third victory for MSV Duisburg. After notable victories against two district league teams, this was the first real endurance test of the summer preparation for coach Torsten Ziegner’s team. It should be mentioned that the opponents, 1. FC Bocholt, still had the 2:2 draw against FC Schalke 04 from the day before in their bones.
As expected, the Zebras were the more active team from the start. This was especially true of Pascal Köpke, who first narrowly missed in the opening quarter of an hour (8th), then forced Lucas Fox into two saves (12th, 13th). Julian Hettwer was also too inaccurate, so that MSV’s dominance against the lurking home side in the first half did not lead to any tangible results.
Both coaches made a lot of changes during the break and the teams had to find their bearings. The Duisburg team remained dominant, but not as dominant as in the first half. The team promptly fell behind. After a free kick, the ball jumped to Rolf Feltscher’s hand and Malek Fakhro converted the penalty (65th minute).
Only three minutes and a verbal altercation of some players after a hard foul by Bocholt, the answer followed. Feltscher corrected his mistake and scored after a resting ball to equalise 1-1 (68th). Shortly afterwards, Marvin Bakalorz even headed in after a corner to make it 2:1 (73.).
The 1st FC Bocholt, who sold themselves well, tried to equalise again in the final phase. But both teams could feel the heavy legs. For MSV less so, because Hamza Anhari scored in the 90th minute to make the final score 3:1.
