District league team Blau-Gelb Überruhr is in first place in the table. Captain Ahmet Kizilisik is a guarantee for success.
Since last Saturday, the Bezirksliga Group 6 has a new league leader and his name is Blau-Gelb Überruhr. In the top match, BGÜ defeated direct rivals Genc Osman Duisburg 2-0 and overtook their opponents in the table.
It was a perfect matchday for Überruhr captain Ahmet Kizilisik. On the one hand, he and his team moved into first place in the table and on top of that, he scored the 1:0 – his 20th goal of the season.
“First and foremost, of course, the three points are the most important thing for me. It’s even better when I’m directly involved in a goal,” explained the captain a few days later. Without question: Kizilisik is the difference-maker at the top of the Bezirksliga. In 23 games, he was directly involved in 36 goals (20 goals, 16 assists). The 30-year-old was his team’s top scorer in the last season, which the ambitious Bezirksliga club finished as runners-up, scoring a total of 28 goals.
When asked whether it was a goal this year to break his personal best from the previous season and possibly even become top scorer, Kizilisik replied: “Of course it would be nice for me personally to score more goals than last season. But at the end of the day, first place is my priority and the top scorer’s crown is more peripherally important to me.”
After 23 games, BGÜ are now top of the table and have a three-point lead over their closest rivals from Duisburg. With a points average of 2.56, head coach Murat Aksoy’s team is already playing an outstanding season, regardless of the outcome. But one thing is clear: promotion to the national league was and is the clear goal of the district league team.
The captain also confirms this. “I have to say a big thank you to the team, because we are consistently playing a very good season and really deserve to be where we are at the moment. We proved it last season and this year we’ve got a lot better because we know each other better on the pitch and therefore play better together. Of course, the new signings also play an important role, the new boys have been well received and have quickly integrated into the team,” emphasized Überruhr’s number ten.
Kizilisik continued: “There are still eleven matchdays left and it doesn’t matter to us whether we play against Genc Osman or Preußen Essen. We show every team the same respect and will keep the intensity and concentration high in every game. As a result, I’m very confident that we’ll achieve our goal in the end. “
I’m still undecided about the coming season. A few clubs have already contacted me and we’ve had talks, but I’ve said that promotion is right at the top of my priority list. I think it will become clear in the next few weeks which path I will take. I’m not averse to a new challenge.
Ahmet Kizilisik
It’s no secret that Ahmet Kizilisik is attracting interest from other clubs thanks to his strong performances. The left-footer already played in the top division until 2022 and made 46 appearances (11 goals, 8 assists) in the fifth-highest division.
The attacking player from the league leaders in Essen is leaving his future open: “At the moment, I haven’t extended my contract or signed with another club. I’m still undecided about next season. A few clubs have already contacted me and there have been talks, but I’ve said that promotion is right at the top of my priority list. I think it will become clear in the next few weeks which path I will take. I’m not averse to a new challenge. “
