1. FC Düren has found a new coach for the coming season. It is a man who until now has only worked in the juniors.
A few days ago, 1. FC Düren announced in the person of new sporting director Adam Matuschyk that the current coaching duo of Carsten Wissing and Martin Grund would not be offered a new contract.
The search for a successor has been successfully concluded. “The club has not decided against Carsten, but in favor of a fresh start. We will soon be presenting a young coaching talent,” said Matuschyk in “Kicker”.
Forecasting knows the name: According to our information, Kristopher Fetz will take over at the current ninth-placed team in the table from Düren from July 1.
Fetz is 29 years old, holds a senior license and comes from Aachen. This season, he was in charge of VfL Osnabrück’s U19s until the end of November 2023. In total, he worked for the Purple & White for over three years. He had already joined the relegated team from Bundesliga 2 on July 1, 2020, where he first coached the U17s and later the U19s.
Prior to his time in Lower Saxony, he spent two years – between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020 – at Dynamo Dresden as youth coach and youth coordinator. Fetz began his coaching career in his home country at Alemannia Aachen. He held various positions there from January 2016 to June 2018. Fetz also worked for the German Football Association (DFB) as a match and opponent analyst and youth scout.
He will now take up his first head coach position at senior level in the Regionalliga West at 1. FC Düren from July 1, 2024.
