First Wattenscheid win, Bocholt celebrate first point

Bocholt pick up a first point after the change of coach, Wattenscheid celebrate their first win after promotion. SV Straelen, on the other hand, is now last.

In the first match after the departure of coach Jan Winking, 1. FC Bocholt picked up their first point in the Regionalliga West. Interim coach Marcus John’s team sensationally overcame a 0:2 deficit against Wuppertaler SV. Kevin Hagemann had given the red and blue team the lead after just seven minutes, and Moritz Montag added the 2:0 half-time score three minutes later. A mistake by Patzler brought the Bocholt side within 1:2 through Malek Fakhro, and in the fourth minute of stoppage time, former Essen and Oberhausen player Jeffrey Obst equalised.

SV Straelen, on the other hand, remained without points in their fourth game. In their home match against promoted 1. FC Düren, the team of ex-BVB professional Sunday Oliseh lost 0:1. Finn Stromberg scored the winner in the 81st minute for the promoted team, who started the season with an impressive record of ten points from four matches. Straelen, on the other hand, are new last-place finishers.

First win for Wattenscheid 09

The SG Wattenscheid, meanwhile, got their first points of the season and were able to redeem themselves for the 8-0 defeat in Ahlen. Dennis Knabe (23rd), Abid Yanik (45th) and Niko Bosnjak (83rd) scored in the first half for a 3-0 victory. The Britscho eleven climbed from a relegation place as a result.

In the other two matches of the day, SV Rödinghausen beat FC Schalke 04’s U23 2-0, while promoted Kaan-Marienborn celebrated a convincing 4-1 victory at SV Lippstadt.

Rot Weiss Ahlen had already lost 5-0 at SC Wiedenbrück on Friday evening. The match between the U21s of 1. FC Köln and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen was abandoned in the 88th minute after fan riots when the score was 4-1 in favour of the Cathedral City team. On Sunday, the U23 of Borussia Mönchengladbach will host the U23 of Fortuna Düsseldorf. Alemannia Aachen’s match against Preußen Münster has been postponed to 24 September.
